Dunlop to Auction Ingall's Championship Tyres for Charity

 Dunlop and newly crowned 2005 V8 Supercar Champion Russell Ingall have
come together to auction two unique pieces of sporting memorabilia for
the Starlight Children's Foundation.
Ingall, the Dunlop Super Dealer ambassador, recently won his maiden V8
Supercar title on Dunlop tyres at Phillip Island and proceeded to, in what
has already become legendary, celebrate the long awaited victory by sending
the crowd wild with a series of memorable burnouts along the main.
The Dunlop K5P5 racing tyre's one front and one rear were used in the
final race and guided Ingall to his long-awaited triumph and ultimately
back to the main straight for those burnouts.
Those famous Dunlop tyres that smoked their way into national sporting
history are now being offered separately for auction on Ingall's website
www.russellingall.com.au.
The auction has started today and will run through until midnight on January
31.
All proceeds from the auctions will be donated to the Starlight Children's
Foundation, Dunlop and Ingall's chosen charity.
DSD Marketing Manager, Leisa Emberson said she expected the auction of
Ingall's tyres to generate interest both throughout Australia and internationally.
"TouringCar Entrants Group Australia (TEGA) boss Kelvin O'Reilly has given
Dunlop special permission to release the tyres as they are strictly accounted
for and not generally released from the possession of the team and Dunlop,"
said Ms Emberson.
Very few of the Dunlop controlled tyres are ever released to the public,
but given the significance of the victory and that the total money raised
is going to the Starlight Children's Foundation TouringCar Entrants Group
Australia (TEGA) boss Kelvin O'Reilly elected to do so.
"Dunlop proudly supports the Starlight Children's Foundation and it is
fantastic that we could get together with Russell, TEGA and Stone Brothers
Racing to make this happen.
"There is no doubt that these items will have fans bidding feverishly...these
Dunlop tyres are now part of Australian motorsport history."
The successful bidder(s) will be owners of an extremely rare piece of memorabilia.
With the TEGA codes of 322865 and 323176, are each Dunlop racing tyre is
housed in a specifically designed case, comes with an autographed shot
of the famous burnouts as well as a certificate of authenticity from TEGA.
"It was a pretty memorable day at Phillip Island and I guess a pretty memorable
celebration," said Ingall.
"I certainly would not condone anyone doing the burnouts we did after the
final race outside a controlled environment like we had at Phillip Island.
"Dunlop has done a fantastic job casing up the tyres and I am sure they
would make a valuable edition to anyone's collection. We have to thank
TEGA and Stone Brothers Racing for their support of this initiative.
"I have really enjoyed my association with the Starlight Children's Foundation
in recent years and it is great to be able to help them at such a great
moment in my life."
